Matthew Erickson is a business-minded advocate with an innovative, aggressive and results-oriented approach. He leverages his experience representing both the State of New Jersey and Fortune and Global 500 companies to provide high-quality expertise in tax, trusts, and estate planning, business formation, and general business transactions.
Previous work at one of the “Big 4” accounting firms gave Matthew invaluable experience working with complex, high-dollar value cases, tax return preparation, and tax planning for some of the world's most iconic companies. As part of that practice, he routinely reviewed and planned business transactions with values in the nine and ten-figure range and obtained millions and millions of dollars in tax savings for his client businesses.
Matthew analyzed and authored many tax opinions on a wide range of subjects covering a variety of jurisdictions. He gained significant experience in tax controversy involving business taxation, individual taxation, real property taxation, estate taxation, and sales and use taxation during his work as a Deputy Attorney General for the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, representing the New Jersey Division of Taxation, the Division of Revenue, and various County Boards of Taxation in a variety of different courts.
Matthew is a military veteran of the U.S. Army who has provided decades of service as an infantry soldier, instructor, and a quality assurance advisor for an important military training institute. He expects to complete his Masters of Law in Taxation at New York University in May, 2021. Matthew holds a BA from Rutgers University, and JD from Seton Hall Law School.
